WHO CAN DO YOGA?
Everybody! Yep, people who exercise a lot and people who never exercise at all; people who are really stiff and tight, and people who are really bendy; people of all ages from 8 to 80; you don't even have to "get into" yoga to get the benefits. And men. Men can do it too!
At MCY we offer practical, no nonsense yoga - if that's for you we'd love to see you!
I'M NOT FLEXIBLE - CAN I STILL DO YOGA?
Yes! In fact you're perfect! Thinking you need to be flexible before you start yoga is a little bit like thinking you need to be able to drive before you take driving lessons! Come as you are and yoga will help you become more flexible.
WHICH CLASS SHOULD I COME TO?
If you've never done any yoga before it's best to start with one of our Beginners' classes where we slow things down and give you loads of help and instruction (Monday 7.30pm, Tuesday 7.30pm, Wednesday 6pm or Thursday 12.40pm). After a few classes, or if you've done some yoga before, you can come to any of our classes - you'll find our full timetable at www.merchantcityyoga.com. Click on the name of the class for a full description.
WHAT DO I NEED TO START?
Wear a pair of sweat pants, leggings or shorts and a t-shirt that's not too baggy. No special footwear's needed as you'll be barefoot. If you have a mat bring it along, otherwise we've got a few to borrow in class, just to get you started. We also have mats for sale so be sure to ask if you're thinking about investing in one. You might sweat, especially in the Ashtanga classes, so drink plenty of water beforehand and maybe even bring a change of clothes if you're not going straight home!
WHERE IS MCY? CAN I PARK NEARBY?
At the moment you'll find us in our temporary home at The Corinthian (191 Ingram St, G1 1DA). Come in the main door and the concierge/receptionist will show you where we are.
We're a five minute walk away from Central & Queen St Stations and St Enoch's & Buchanan St Underground stations, and there's loads of buses passing right by the door.
Street parking around MCY is free after 6pm and all day Sunday. Monday - Saturday 8am-6pm metered parking in the immediate area costs 60p per 12 minutes. That's fine if you just need to get to class for 6pm but not so great if you're in for a couple of hours for a Saturday morning class! In that case we suggest you park a few blocks away (about a five minute walk) on the other side (the Barras' side!) of High St, for example, on Bell St. The cost here is 20p for your first 30 minutes and 20p per 10 minutes thereafter. If you're coming to an event or workshop which is longer than an hour or two, you can park in King St outdoor car park for £5 for 10 hours any day of the week.
If you think there's anything you think we've missed out get in touch!
